The After School Club
What can I expect from the club?
The After School Club is held in the school dining room during school term time and holidays providing childcare for children aged 4-12 years who attend the Royal High Primary School. Your child will be provided with a variety of challenging and stimulating activities in a safe and child friendly environment.
Who runs the club?
The staff team is made up of the project manager and 4 playworkers. It is also run by an Executive Management committee, made up of parents whose children attend the club. The parents/carers on the committee are on a volunteer basis; any parent can stand for election onto the committee at the Annual General Meeting.
All staff are fully first aid trained with a wealth of childcare training and experience. The Care Commission inspects the club annually; a copy of the report can be viewed on request.
What is the programme like?
The children are encouraged to offer ideas for the programme and the staff plan around these. Such acitivies as arts and crafts, board games and a quiet area for homework and reading are offered on a daily basis. A lot of time is spent outdoors in the playground and using the local amenities such as the park and library. One trip a month (on a Friday) is planned in advance to various exciting destinations such as Dynamic Earth, cinema and museum.
Each day a healthy snack is offered to the children with a treat once a week. An example of a weeks snack is fruit, vegetables, sandwiches, cereal and iced biscuits.
How much is it?
Term time:
A full week from 3pm - 3.30pm is £5.50 per week (P1 and 2 only)
Mon-Thurs. from finishing school to 5.45pm is £6 per day
Frid. from finishing school to 5.45 is £11.
Holiday Club
8.15am - 5.30pm is £14 per day
A registration fee is paid annually and is £15 for the first child and £10 for each child thereafter.
